VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

I am a very very loyal truworths customer. I pay my account religiously and Truworths is always my first option when shopping.
I have tried to get some help with a SIMPLE exchange but unfortunately no one can help.
I was just enquiring and it made me realise that something so simple and can not be handle with ease and decided to take this up further.
I have received a bag as a gift from my office which I already have, I went to the Durban, Gateway branch the week that past and realised the bag was still for sale in the store. I would like to EXCHANGE the bag for something else as the bag is not cheap and also I would like a gift that I would use and not just throw in the back of the closet. The bag is not used and stil the packet that I received it.
I can not believe that no one can assit me because I do not have the receipt. It is unbelievable because the bag is still for sale and I am not asking for the money I will actually be EXCHANGING the gift for something for more value, I will pay the difference.
I am looking for help and giving Truworths, a reputable brand the chance to prove that customer service is important to the brand.
