Trying to replace or repair a broken lawnmowe

Today, I tried to replace a lawnmower that continually tripped the power (it had been used on two separate occasions and is 2 weeks old today) and it was found to be an earth leakage problem. After exhausting every possible problem on our side (with my husband's help - who has 15 years experience in electronics), I went to replace the faulty lawnmower

When I had arrived, I spoke to the manager over the phone but he seemed to be constantly distracted. He apparently "was helping another customer" and only when he got off of the phone and spoke to me in person did I find out that it could only be repaired and not replaced as I had requested (I have proof of purchase.) This manager proceeded to treat me very poorly when trying to discover the problem, citing several reasons for the problem beside the lawnmower itself.

It was only after a near shouting match between the manager and myself that I left out of sheer frustration and now I must wait for the repairs (which apparently take 21 days even though the repair man was due in tomorrow.) In customer service, not every customer would know about every product that they use, but it does not help to insult their intelligence.
