One month old TV irreparable!!!

On 16 January we bought a seemingly 100% new Sony Bravia which was on display or two weeks (apparently brand new but only taken out of the box). We also purchased an extra extended warranty for 5 years and were told if anything should happen they will come out to our house, free of charge and to the inspection and repairs if possible there.

At the start of March the TV would not switch on. We were told they do not come out on normal warranty only when the first warranty expires, so had to take the TV in. After two weeks with no feedback we were finally called to say it is the power supply and they do not cover it. Now this TV was on the same power extension as the DSTV and Sound system which are both in perfect condition. How can the one appliance be affected by the apparent power surge and all the others are fine??? Or maybe a faulty item was sold to us.

So now we have to fork out another R1900 to fix a R5500 TV that only worked for a month and a half. and that with the extra warranty, which now expires if they work on it.

How can that be fair?!?!?!?!
