Makro Strubens Valley - Misinformation to custome

Shops, Products, Services

I purchased a tv from Makro Strubensvalley in April 2012, a month ago there was a dark line that appeared on the tv so I called Makro to verify warranty periods and they told me it has a two year warranty. So, of course, as it was covered by warranty, I took the tv to Strubens Valley. I spoke to a consultant at the tv retail section and he confirmed that the warranty was two years. I checked the tv in at repairs - again confirming with the lady who pulled up my purchase invoice and checked the tv in that it was under warranty and I wouldnt incur any costs - she confirmed. Today I get a call from Makro, saying the repair cost is R 1500 for which I am liable. Apparently I bought a tv during the one year warranty period, and two weeks after my purchase the warranty become a two year warranty! How was I suppose to know there was a policy change - and in addition, I was told atleast four times that the tv has a two year warranty. Misinformation is given out by Makro staff itself, yet I must now bear the inconvience and cost of their incompetence. They have an excellent CPA policy on their site, if only they adhered to what it says -"we will give you proper info on the goods we sell"!
