Sony bravia tv

I bought a brand new sony bravia tv for R8200. 21months later it just stopped working. The screen doesn't switch on nothing just the little red led light blinks 5 times. So I sent it in to get repaired only to discover that it supposedly only had a 12month warranty not the 24 month warranty I was under the impression it came with as it is a sony after all. I was told oh no they only brought that out the year after. I was then told the repair cost would be R7129!!! Thats basically what I paid for the tv in the first place. I think this is absolutely ridiculous as the tv isn't even 2 years old. How can such a well know brand just stop working like this??? I will never buy another sony again. I would like some answers as I'm now sitting with a practically brand new tv tha i can do nothing with and that cost me a small fortune!
