WATCH REPAIR COST

I purchased a watch from American Swiss in December for R2200.00. The watch glass was subsequently damaged and handed to American Swiss to quote for replacement of the cracked glass. The quotation received was for R1958.00 - almost the cost of the watch! The apparent reason is that a CK watch is very expensive to maintain and repair!? I cannot fault the service of Lindiwe who has kept me informed and assisted me in throughout - she has been exemplary. However I query the cost of replacement of the glass and wonder how this is justified?
