Ellen refused to change an item for Me

I bought shoes as a present at trueworths boulders and it didnt fit the person I was buying 4, I went back to change them to get a right size, same shoe but just a different size, they didnt have the size I was looking for and they checked the system for Me and advised Me to go to the truworths at ellof street, I went there to change the shoes, I was told that since I bought them on a 4days sale, I should have changed them within the 4days and that I had to now pay the difference, I told Ellen that I didnt know that otherwise I wouldnt have came to change them cos now I wasted petrol and time to go there just to change the size and I was not told anything at trueworths boulders nor reading the terms and condition on the slip, it doesnt say anything bwt paying the difference when you change a size if the item was on sale when you bought it, I was still within the 30 days which is stated on the slip that you can return/exchnage within that period. Ellen didnt even try to contact trueworths boulders and ask them why they sent Me there without explaining her terms and conditions which are hidden since I couldnt read them anywhere, I am very upset to have driven all the way for nothing.
