I have had a Woolworths account since 2009.
Never once have I missed a payment. As a matter of fact I always pay more into the account than what is necessary. I haven't received statements in a couple of months but I didn't worry about it because as I said I always pay more into the account.
On the 11th of Jan 2013 I received an SMS saying that I short payed on my account and I need to call them. I did so immediately and was informed that I payed -R60 short for the month. I arranged to make an immediate payment in which I payed the outstanding amount as well as the next months payment in one go. I explained that I try to keep an immaculate credit record so they must please make sure this will not be impacted. I also explained that I was not receiving statements any more and I gave them my email address. I was assured that my details were updated and all is well.
I received an email on 14th of Feb that included a statement. On inspection I noticed an "Overdue Fee DC1" of R66.62. I immediately called Woolworths and explained the problem. I was informed that in a basically too bad so sad attitude that this has affected my credit record and there is nothing the can (will) do.
