Makro
Up to 15% overcharge on clothes at check out

Shops, Products, Services

I bought 3 items of clothing with price tags and they were not on sale. I paid at the checkout. On arriving home I noticed on my slip that I had been over-charged on all 3 items. Two pairs of shorts marked at R199 each, I was charged R229 each and a dri-mac marked at R159, I was charged R179. I spoke to Heather on the phone who said I must come in for a refund. I went in the next day (using my petrol and time) to refunds who said I must return all the clothes and go back into the store to re-purchase them. She also said that I could find a Manager somewhere inside the store. I re-purchased my clothes and once again was over-charged. No-one had changed any of the prices from my previous phone call. I spoke to the clothing Manager who said that the clothes are marked when they come in and therefore there are discrepancies and then they do a price adjustment at the till. I am not satisfied with this response as it is a hassle and a cost to go back to the store. I also feel it is as not everyone checks their slips and for people who stay far away the cost of petrol can be more than the over-charge.
