Woolworths
Knowingly selling expired goods

Shops, Products, Services

I visited Woolworths store in Fairmount on 12th March 2013.I bought a few of the valentines sweets that were marked down to 75% last week Thursday 07th March and paid 75% of the marked price as indicated. I went again on the 12th March and saw that the same sweets were still marked down to 75% and were in the till aisle, so I picked up a few and went to pay for them - only to be charged the original price and NOT the 75% marked down price. The cashier couldnt answer to the prices of the goods charged and called the store manager. The store manager "Thabisa" told me that the price rung up is correct - as it is now considered expired stock and must be charged at the original price, and the supervisor must have made a mistake to leave the stock on shelf. She asked if I still wanted to buy the sweets-which she had just told me was expired-but I needed to purchase them at the original price and not the discounted price. I was so disgusted and just asked for a refund and asked her why she had expired stock on the shelf and also had false advertising - because if I had not queried this - the store would have just sell the stock. i sent a query to woolworths and still waiting for feedback.
