Debited account after settlement

This is not the first time this has happened to my wife and myself where FURNITURE CITY has either double debited my account or as in this case debited my account after the account has been settled for a full month. As far as I'm concerned if this has happened to both my wife and I who use separate bank account in our own names then how many other people has this happened and who have not picked it up. My thoughts are that the money has purposefully been deducted and held onto for a period of time to either gain interest on the sum or used to fund further growth of their company.
