I went to buy a watch that was on display for R900. The person running the shop told me to pay him R1, 000. I pointed out that it was R900 and without looking said "fine, give me R900".
I had to return to the shop later in the day because the time wasn't changing. An elderly man assisted and had the watch fixed/battery change.
Less than an hour later I noticed that the "1" digit on the 12 had slipped down. I took it back and, dealing with the first man, explained that I wanted to return the watch. He said that was fine and asked his assistant to refund my credit card. He whispered "800" to his assistant. I thought it had something to do with the product code but when he produced the slip for me to sign, it said my refund was R800. I explained that the watch cost R900. He asked me to produced my slip. Looking for the slip in my bag I pointed to the same watch in the display and said "look, it is R900". With a few other customers in the shop he then started shouting at me to shut up. I was shocked and said that all I wanted was the right refund.
As I turned to leave I told him needs to learn about customer service, he just told me to leave and that he doesn't need the business.
