Efusal to replace shop soiled dress within 14 day

I made a quick cash purchase at closing time on 14 Dec. I instantly loved the dress. Foschini sells new items. I simply assumed it was in perfect condition. A few days ago though, on closer inspection, I noticed that it had an odd odour. I considered the item shop soiled and returned it to the same store on 27 Dec. I explained this to the cashier and requested that the store replaces me with the exact same dress, but in perfect condition. She returned after a long wait. Her manager refused to concede to my request. Her reasons was that I had purchased the dress more than 14 days ago and that the swing ticket was not attached in the "correct manner". I was flabbergasted! I immediately challenged the cashier, the store return policy is 30 days and the swing ticket was attached exactly as I had purchased the item. She then retorted that the store does not return used goods. This infuriated me. I demanded to see the manager personally. She presented herself eventually. She was dismissive and simply reiterated her 14 day, swing ticket scenario policy, and refused to replace the item.
I was not satisfied. I requested a written report from her detailing how the scenario played out in-sto
