Poor merchandise

I bought my son a SHOX boom box for christmas, from the above mentioned store. It did not work, took it back to the store, but we had lost the slip, so was not expecting them to replace, but thought we could at least have it repaired. Was then told that this item could not be repaired, how is this possible? I feel like it was just too much effort for them, so now I am out R400 for a damaged product that cant be repaired, through no fault of my own.
