Derision and Flippancy from Edgars Boksburg

I visited Edgars Boksburg to exchange shoes that were too small for me that I received as a gift.
I had no slip, or shoe box (thrown away by buyer) to confirm the purchase.
At the Customer Service dept, the assistant (Xoli Nkosi) said I couldn't return the shoes because the soles were damaged (I had tried on the shoes once). I asked for the matter to be referred to the manager (Pule Kubayi) who came to the same conclusion. I challenged him, asking that if I found a pair of the same shoes with soles in the same condition on the shop floor, would he consider an exchange? He invited me to try.
I did find a pair of shoes in less than 5 mins in the same condition. Upon my return, I was informed by my wife that the Customer Service assistant had said to her manager I was trying to from Edgars (in Zulu). When my wife challenged her about this, Xoli said that her comments were meant for her manager. My wife left to find a place to sit, and once her back was turned, Xoli laughed at her.
I'm furious. Never mind the shoes - I left both pairs behind in the shop in disgust. What bothers me is that Edgars staff and management think it's OK to insult & laugh at customers.
