Higher price does not mean higher quality

Shops, Products, Services

Yesterday evening I went into the V&A Waterfront Edgars intending to buy a pair of new shoes for my 4yr old son. I know that his paediatrician strongly advised getting a pair with some arch support from the age of 3yrs upwards so I regularly feel inside the shoe to see if there is any arch support. I was bitterly disappointed in Edgars in that not a single pair of shoes on the shelves had arch support! Even the so-called "brand names" (you know what I mean...) had no arch support whatsoever.
However when you compare the price of the Edgars shoes with that of high quality shoes, that do have arch support, you'll see that they are in the same bracket. Why should loyal customers be required to pay a higher price for the same level of quality that we can expect from an informal trader in a flea-market?
Though not ideal, its better for my son to walk around with a tattered pair of shoes with arch support, than for a parent to buy an expensive pair of rubbish.

Somehow I expected more from Edgars... When I see shoes for 4yr old at Edgars and it actually HAS arch support, then I'll feel better.
