Kids toys not priced properly!

My first question is, is there no one at pick n pay that actually checks if the prices with the toys matches the toys??? does the person stacking the shelves just shove the toys in anywhere?
I planned on buying my niece a toy, so I phoned to tell her that I bought her this toy because she wanted it the last time we were in pick n pay. the price under the toy was R39.99 and so was the barcode above the toy. also in the range of R40. so i took the toy to the till to pay and it scanned in for R150 or R160. there was NO price even close to the little dragon toy in that range. now what do I tell a 6 year old tonight when i get home? she is not going to understand that due to the staff's incompetence I had to put it back. do i have to read the barcodes on everything before i purchase it just incase? this is really pathetic!!! and to void the sale the supervisor at the till next to mine took her time moving between tills. while the rest of us have limited time, it seems pick n pay staff get unlimited chatting time during lunch hours when the store is sooo busy. im really dissapointed in the slack manner this part of a chain name is being run!!!
