UNLAWFUL ADDITIONAL CHARGES

I had opened up an Edgars account about 2 and a half months ago. At sales point, I had explicitly stated to the consultant (in store) that I wished to start a 6 month (NO INTEREST) account. After the completion of all documentation the consultant had indeed confirmed that I would be a "proud" owner of an Edgars account (6 months) NO interest. I then purchased a product from Edgars totaling R 2 600.00, with my first installment I paid edgars R 600.00. My seconed payment was R 1 038.45. To my dismay - I received an invoice from Edgars wherein I was being charged for interest (R 32.78) and DEFERRED INTEREST (R 42.00). After calling numerous Edcon call centre numbers and client "help", lines I was told that the "calculator" (did they mean black box?) said that I did not qualify for 6 month no interest account. Considering that I earn a substantial salary? Additionally, no one from Edgars had notified me that I will be on an interest based account -no call, e-mail or reg. mail.. On R 1 000.00 owed my interest for November is R 74.78. I have asked to have the interest amount reversed and my account restructured. Edcon said "no way". I am going to the ombudsman should this not be resolved
