Edgars Account Debacle

I applied for an Edgars account approximately a year ago, wanting a 6 months interest free account. When informed that they only offered a 12 months interest bearing account I duly requested that the account not be opened.

Edgars have subsequently again started offering a 6 month interest free account. I once again applied for this account option, only to be told that I already had a 12 month account open with them.

I accepted that there was an error on their side at originally opening the 12 month account when I asked them not to, and asked that they change the account from a 12 month interest bearing to a 6 month interest free account. Their reply to me was that I had to make use of the 12 month account for a period of 6 months before it could be changed to a 6 month account!

I find this ridiculous to tie a person into an account that has never been used in order to milk them on interest charges!
I instructed them to close the 12 month account and I would just reapply for a 6 month account but was told this will not work as the system will state that I already have a 12 month account!
