Product never used and now not working!

I bought this for husband in December for his B day, we have since then never registerd it at all, I know gave it to a friend as we are leaving for New Zealand, and this screen has gone all fuzzy?
I gave this to her in the box, you will see this was not registerd at all which means that it was never used and now this? Is this the kind of goods that you sell? Should have got myself an E reader and not a Gobi!!!

Very dissapointed.
