Chicco Humidifier - sold with European plugs

I bought a Chicco humidifier and when I arrived home realised that it had a European 2 point plug on. I was unable to use the product because it does not fit any standard SA 2 point plug. On questioning the Chicco SA in Durban I was told to buy a adaptor for the humidifier. My point is: If a product is sold in South Africa should it not be usable in South Africa and if you then have to sell it with an international plug should you not warn your customers that they will need an adaptor?
