No Service follow up to service request

We bought a 5 plate gas/electric stove just over 2 years ago. In June the central plate became faulty and I logged a service request with Defy via their web site.
Their response was quick - they would get an agent to contact me. There is a local agent in our town and he has seen the problem, but is waiting on Defy to authorise the repair/supply spares.
It is now over two months later, the stove is out of guarantee (though it wasn't when I logged the request) and even my follow up emails to Defy have not elicited a response.
We own four major Defy appliances and now I'm wondering if I made the biggest mistake in buying them!!
