Guarantee Unfulfilled

I purchased a typist chair for R499.99 from Mr Price, The Glen on 19 August 2012, with 1 year guarantee attached to the chair. 11 months down the line, the plastic support for the back-rest gave way and as a result, rendering the chair unusable. I knew I had a couple of weeks left before the guarantee expires, so I took the chair to the same store on 2 August 2013, from where I purchased the item. Having sought assistance from one of the salesman, who says "We cannot honor the guarantee, as we have dis-continued the product 6 months hence and there were too many comebacks on the item, and there's nothing he could do." I found his answer utterly preposterous, and he didn't have the common courtesy to assist me any further, as a result, leaving me dumb-founded. How do you train your staff? Where is the costumer satisfaction? I am not asking for a refund, the least you could do is either repair the chair or have it replaced. I will certainly not purchase any items from your stores in future. The Irony is, Being a huge supporter I am very reluctant to wear my shirt and other memorabilia that I possess which was purchased from your stores.
