I DO NOT HAVE AN EDCON ACCOUNT

I received a letter dated 1 May advising on interest on my account and that Edcon & Absa had entered into a strategic arrangement. I DO NOT have an account with Edcon or any of it's subsidiaries. My first thought was that someone had opened and was transacting on an account in my name. I contacted the call centre 08601130639 and was told that an account was opened, but not activated and asked had I received an offer to open an account. YES, I have received numerous offers, NO, I have never accepted any of these offers. The account was supposed to be cancelled. The complaint was going to be raised and I was going to be contacted with feedback. To date I have NOT BEEN CONTACTED. I then received a second letter dated 20 June for my "account". How can an account be opened in my name when I have not applied for it? I have not given consent to check my credit references! How is an account number allocated to me when I have NEVER applied for or responded to any offers for credit facilities from Edcon? How can Absa be "credit provider for your account" and say they "look forward to continuing to provide value through your store card credit facility" I DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT!!!
