Lost item for repair and did not compensate

On 25/5/2013 left a chain and cross with M.O.Watch Service for repair. First they did not finish the repair on the date they said they would then when I went to pick up they told me it had been from the store.
The owner blames his staff and says that she was responsible. They then tried to give me something that was not the same value. I got a quote to replace the chain and cross which he would not accept and told me I had to take his replacement or leave it. How can a owner of a business not take responsibility for things left with him for repair. That means he does not care what happens to customers goods left with him. If he loses items he will just kick you out like he did to me with the attitude of take it or leave it and tell me to F..ck off out of my shop. He is a disgusting person who should not be trusted.
