Over the last few months to a year, levels of service at Edgars Westgate have deteriorated badly.
There are frequently long queues at the section of tills where we have to pay. There is allocation for at least 10 cashiers, but rarely does one find more than 2 or maybe 3 cashiers. Currently, with the 50% off sale, the queues are spiralling out of control. I needed to return an item, went to the returns & credit desk, only to find a long queue of people waiting to purchase items - and only 2 slow cashiers. Chatting to other customers in the queue, they said they had already been waiting in excess of half an hour to be served. Eventually I asked for a manger - no store manger in the shop! A person purporting (no name tag worn) to be the deputy manager eventually arrived & said she was arranging for 3 more cashiers. When she disappeared, we were back to 2 cashiers again.
A whole section of tills in another area was totally unmanned. Why bother with costly upgrades & large stores when you waste space and cannot plan for adequate staff provision!
