A shop that refuses to sell to customers

How can a shop in this day and age refuse to serve customers? Does Makro honestly make enough money to turn people away even though they are loyal customers and merely forgot a card???

I went to the Springfield branch and wanted to buy a few items bringing a total over a thousand rand and the cashier point blank refused to serve me due to not having my card on me, so I asked a person in the next isle if i may borrow their card and the cashier railroaded that as well, upon which I asked the cashier if it is a shop we are standing in and if a shops function is generating sales...

Is it that difficult to sell someone your stock to make money?

Sick of this.
