Failed to pay credit note amount back

I received a credit note for a returned item on the 26th of June. It was never paid back into my account. When I called about it, one of the managers told me that there had been some trouble with that and that I should email the slip. One shouldn't have to worry about credit notes being paid back. It's by this business and most people don't check their statements and would never pick it up. I find it disgraceful and I will not be visiting the store anymore.
