Information Regarding TV screen Sizes

Shops, Products, Services

I bought a Samsung 32" LED Television from our local Makro on 17 June 2013, I have no problem whatsoever with Samsung and this was in fact my 3rd television set I bought since December 2012, a 46 inch and a previous 32 inch. I purposely buy Samsung as they create employment in South Africa which is very important to me and they sell excellent products. Here is my problem I had a specific wall unit that this 32 inch needed to fit which I measured beforehand. Upon installation it looked very small and for the FIRST TIME in my life I measured a TV, surprise, surprise when I measured the screen width it only measured approximately 29 inches, now people that grew up with inches will know that 3 inches make a big difference. After some google research I learnt that you have to measure a TV Screen diagonally my point being how on earth would a uninformed customer know this? I phoned Makro and spoke to a TV sales person and asked him how I should measure a TV screen width and he told me with a tape measure from left to right, now if the people who sell the stuff are uninformed, how am I suppose to just have this info? I think all TV Manufacturers should inform the public in one way or another.
