Basis of issuing Credit?!

Please can someone explain to me how a person who has a gold credit card from Standard Bank, and just approved for an American express card with Nedbank, was denied an account with edgars, whom apparently has one of the most relaxed lending policies around.

I applied last week and indicated on the application my income which I receive. There was a slight miscomunication between the consultant and my dad who funds my accounts every month, which lead to your consultant thinking I was lieing on the application, which im sure this was the reason for denial. I have an incoming showing on my bank statements over R20, 000 per month, yet your "very friendly" consultant obviously did not trust this as I shortly received a denial email from you.

I was merely trying to open an account to build up a credit history, but instead of spending money at your stores now I think I will go use my cards elsewhere. All that I am left with now is a stinking report and inquiry on my credit report!
