Cash back I had to take I did not ask for

Monday I went to the Waterstone Pick 'n Pay to get some groceries. The total came to about R500.00. At the till, the cashier rang up the goods and when I had to pay with my debit card, she made a mistake and I had to enter my pin and the system said "declined". I she then swiped the card again and I had to enter my pin again... Second time the pin went through and the till opened. She turned around and said to the floor manager (I presume, as no on introduced themselves.) And said: "It is doing it again". Not communicating with me. She said to me: "I have to give you R400.00 as the system took the R400.00 as a cash back on your account. Everyone was looking at each other and I said: "I do not want the R400.00 cash, I want it in my account, I did not ask for it." The all just stood there with no answers, only the lady that assisted with packing our bags apologised and then the rest apologised. I then had to take the money and everyone was just standing there without any answers. If the till was "doing it agian" as the cashier put it, why was the system not looked at? This is shocking and I can't understand how your system can just draw money out of my account without my authority!!!
