Bad service all-round

I signed a contract with ADT for a security system at my house on the 13th of February 2013. Until today, I have not received ONE DAY's service, even though I have been charged the full amount since then, including pro rata for February. Almost R2000 spent, not a single day of the service being offered. Is this legal under CPA? When the first technician came in to link up the system, we weren't told that the existing keypad was faulty, and assumed the service had been switched on. Found out it wasn't when the alarm went off and we weren't contacted by ADT. When we phoned to report this, we were put through to the Tech department, only to be kept on hold for almost ten minutes. I then hung up and phoned back - turns out it wasn't in office hours for tech department, and the customer services person who put me though did not know this. Tried to escalate the matter a few times since, every time I do I get 'transferred' to a line that just keeps on ringing (for more than 5 minutes). When we eventually got through, another tech guy was sent, who gave us a quote of over R4000 to fix the keypad - more than the cost of installing a new system. Would never had signed up if we knew.
