ADT Will say anything too make the sale

So, I signed up with ADT, Janicce being the sales rep about 2 years ago. I opted to purchase the system. I was told i had to fit a Guard Cell Unit to my gate to enable ADT to access my premises. i was advised by the Sales Consultant, ie Janice that should i cancel my contract, they will buy it back, which makes sense as this is an ADT unit. NOW, due to lack of service, non visibility and upon foning the contact centre in the middle of the night, and being cut off... I decided to move over to a more reliable, integrity baseed company which offers value for money (and more cheaper), ie CHUBB... and is very visible.
So, now i aske for the refund on the ADT Guard cell unit and I am told NO, it is my unit... so no refund possible. What am I going to do with an ADT access unit... Needless to say, Chubb is fitting a unit of the similar nature... FOR FREE... I do not know why i took so long to cancel with ADT... but most certainly glad i did now
