ADT wants to charge me to fix faulty system

I am disappointed in the poor service from ADT security and the apathy displayed by their staff in resolving the issue. Last night I experienced an issue with the alarm keypad and couldn't arm the system. After being on the phone for over an hour with their "technicians", and being passed from one guy to the other (having to retell the story each time), they finally told me that they can't resolve the issue over the phone and someone will have to come out to my property. But get this, they will charge me a R500 fee!! After refusing to pay that fee, the said they can attend to my issue today. And so my property was left unsecured overnight and today. I have yet to hear from them. Disappointing, I am wondering why I am paying ADT at all if they can't offer me support when things go wrong?
