On 20 April 2013 i logged a call with ADT for a fault with my alarm system. The technician said my panel needed replacing and charged me R1, 678-74 for the panel as well as R556-50 callout fee. The next day I noticed that the panel was displaying similar symptons and again called ADT. After a long holding period I eventually spoke to someone who instructed me to power off my system for twenty minutes. This appeared to work but the symptons soon reappeared. I had to keep doing this reapeatedly to get around the problem. On 29 April I again called ADT to let them know this was not acceptable. Another technician came out and he managed to find the true fault - a damaged data line which he repaired. Since then the system has been working properly. However, at the time I had to sign his callout sheet on which I was charged another R556-50 callout fee. I complained because it was a repeat call for the same problem and also because I was originally charged for a new panel which was not required. The technician said that he would talk to his manager about my complaint. I have not heard fro ADT since and their lines are constantly busy
