Holiday decoder charges & callcentre agent trouble

Recreation & Entertainment

We phoned on the 12th of December 2013 to have a standard decoder activated that is used in our holiday home.
We were informed by the call centre agent that the activation will NOT be completed before we pay the daily rate of just over R20 per day in cash at e.g. a Checkers or similar pay point.
This amount of R249 and some cents were paid on the 13th of December 2013 at checkers and the decoder was activated.
On the same day, a charge of R625 was loaded onto my account for debit order which was then taken from my account on the 1st of January 2014. My total account for the month thus more than R1400.
Why did I have to pay the cash and was assured that the decoder will only work once paid and stop working when the money runs out. Now I incur additional expenses.
I only stopped the service on the Dstv website today after I checked my account today and saw the service was still running. (HOW COME after we informed the agent it will only be for 12 days?) What we pay for?
I phoned the call centre to rectify but the agent was not up to the task,
I then drove to the centre N1 city and got something done, but I will still be overpaying. It is in my opinion. 2nd year running...
