Disappointed in after sales service

I am very disappointed in the after-sales service provided by multichoice. I bought a new decoder in April 2013 and in the course of last week, something happened to the decoder and the dstv channels are all in black and white. I called in on Saturday and did the scan and restore to factory settings it still did not work. I was then told that there could be something wrong with the cables or the decoder and that a technician must come and have a look at my expense, which is ridiculous. There are no children and the cables and decoder are not unplugged and plugged repeatedly to cause possible damage. I then tested the decoder by changing the cables and the picture is still the same. So I called in again and was informed that my decoder which is only 8 months old, is not under guarantee but warranty and must be given in to be repaired, a new one will not be given. So I must hand it in for repairs and wait for it to be fixed all the while paying the subscription and being inconvenienced just because I was unfortunate enough to buy a faulty decoder. I am really close to cancelling my subscription due to the terrible after sales service
