Sim card security paranoia

Recreation & Entertainment

It used to be easy. take the dstv sim card to my holiday home. Insert card, sms number to dstv and get connected.

Obviously this does not suit the sa business model - lets make it MORE difficult for the customer.

Found to my dismay that I had to get a new sim card for the old decoder in my holiday home.

Wow the excuses / lack of understanding of the problem / the inability of call centre operators to listen / inability to solve the problem - full marks to Ruth anf Feraaz

To Nomsa - at least you could offer a more detailed explanation of the security paranoia where business views their customers as potential criminals.

The agent in Scottburgh was initially mystified as to my request - according to this woman my sim card should be interchangeable between the two decoders as they NOT possess the silicon chip (sic??)

Why is there this disconnect between MC and the agent?

The call centre was particularly slow Monday afternoon when phoning in to connect the new sim card - but that is the SA norm for call centres - take your time, waste the customers money, of course the eternal excuse the system is slow

I relish having to repeat this operation this weekend when home
