Wrong information given

Last week i booked tickets for World War Z via credit card online. the movie was on friday night. i could not attend the movie, but i went past the branch and spoke to a cashier, they told me to contact the ticket line, NO SPECIFIC times were stipulated, and they will sort it out for me.
i called the movie line today, and was informed they cannot change my tickets becuase i needed to call before the movie started. the cashier never stipluated this to me, if i had know i would have made that call immediately. i think that it is sad that the staff do not know proper processes. Cedar Squar is one of my favourite movie houses and now the whole experiance has been ruined.
