HD decoders that don't last longer than a yea

Is it just me or is DSTV decoders of seriously inferior quality? This weekend we'll have to take our DSTV back to a service center for 'repairs' which more than likely will result in us having to buy yet ANOTHER refurbished decoder.

We have all sorts of electronics in our house and the DSTV decoder is the only one that needs to be replaced so often. It's ridiculous.

"Get decoder insurance" they say with a smile. This is not an excuse for bad products. Which other electronic product has such a short life span? Only the ones that come from really cheap, no care manufacturers!

DSTV has an absolute monopoly on selling these decoders and I for one would like to see other manufacturers be aloud to sell decoders that work with the DSTV service. At least we'd have some measure of recourse or alternative!
