In July 2011 my house in PE was rented out with Jawitz properties. They found and placed a tenant for me and promptly started taking their 10% commission pm. For the first couple of months all went smoothly, but that was to end. The receipt of rentals from them became tardy and only ever happened when I chased it up (that was if I could get hold of anyone). In Nov last year I informed them that I would be moving back to PE and would need to take occupation of my house on 1 Feb 2013. That's when the problems started. From the moment that they advised the tenant, she stopped paying and refused to leave. Jawitz's attitude was... sort it out yourself. When we inspected the property with the agent and a handyman, it was found that the tenant had caused R20k damages - again the attitude of Jawitz - take it to the lawyers. To top it all off Jawitz could not produce the inspection report when the tenant moved in, giving me no way of proving the damages had been caused by her. At this stage, they simply informed me "sorry, but we've loSt your file". I am out of pocket by 3 months rent, 3 months utilities, R20k damages and a squatter in my house. Jawitz want nothing to do with my problems!
