Promised me a house to rent and now he ran away

I have known this guy from 2012 the time i was looking for a house to buy but due to my credit score i couldnt get a house, since then we kept in touch through Bbm and whatsapp. We are all from Venda. I paid him my rental plus admin fee and on saturday I packed my stuff and went to wait for him by the house as he assured us he was on his way with the house keys! we got there and found that the house has already been taken and he is the one who put the new tenants to that house but still he took our money. When i called him telling him that theres other people at the house, he said hes got the other house and hes sorry for not letting us know that it has been taken. we waited longer again and he stopped taking our calls since today, he is not replying to my sms nor taking my calls. I have tried even using other peoples fone and i see that hes not taking calls from people he doesnt know. This is really painful, all his fones are on but not picking up.
