Refusal or inability to refund property rental

I rented a room in a townhouse for my student daughter for the last three years. She completed her studies last year and I have been unable to get my deposit refunded. I have been to and told that it was spent on cleaning. I have asked for proof of these alleged expenses and nothing is forthcoming. As there were 3 tenants it would appear that they are attempting to in the region of R8000 in deposits held
