Benoni Properties can be dodgey with rentals!!

Firstly, I was supposed to get 2 keys when moving in (1 for garage and 1 for main gate) I didn't get either of those keys and after I moved in I was locked out the main gate and mugged of my cell phone. I believe that Benoni Properties is responsible for that as they should have given me the key and told me about the main gate being locked. They have NO regard for the safety of the people renting the properties.

Secondly, refundable deposit - 11 days after moving out - a cheque was deposited into my account. And Benoni Properties knows that cheques can take up to 2 weeks to be processed. So all together you have to wait 25 days to get your money back which is against the law. When I requested that the cheque be cancelled and a cash cheque be made out they said No and that they won't change the rules for 1 person.

Thirdly, they deduct electricity and water from your deposit for 6 weeks, 4 Weeks of the notice period and an extra 2 Weeks deduction- yes they deduct water and electricity even after you have moved out.

I'm really disappointed in this company and I would suggest people should rather rent from other reputable companies like George Rennie or Benoni Board.
