Holiday home with broken washing machine

We were told by owner to use washing machine. We tried, but no water ran into machine. The lady that cleaned arrived and experienced the same problem with the machine. The owner got a technician out and invoice says R250 for inspection. They claim that too many buttons pressed and machine locked. Owner wants to charge us for 50 % of inspection fee laundry fee. However contract stated that we must pay R200 for cleaning which we paid already.

To top it all, the washing machine is in an outside room that is not locked and so any person can enter the room. We feel cheated, why must we pay for repairs on a washing machine that we never could use, as it did not work when we wanted to. Needless to say we will not advise anyone to book this house, the owner could not even explain how the stove works. But yet she convinced herself that she must blame people that stayed for 4 days in her house and tried to use the machine once.
