Waiting for deposit from rental

We moved out of a property rented through Dorette Steyn at the end of November 2012. We drilled 2 holes in 2 of the bedrooms and these had to be fixed. We painted, but there was a slight colour difference. I never heard anything from Dorette until I queried it in the second week of January 2013. I was then told we need to pay R3750 Vat to have the rooms painted. I then replied and said in that case we will paint ourselves, whic we then did at the beginning of March as we were told we cannot do it until the current occupants had moved. Once again did we not hear anything and I again requested a response. I was then told they were still not happy with the one bedroom. I then returned and painted the bedroom on 1 May. I then received a message from the owner asking if the deposit had been refunded. I was then sent a form to sign on 13 May, with the interest still the same than it was in January this year. I requested and update, but only after my husband called did we receive an adjusted figure. I sent the signed document on Friday, 17 May and again had to enquire on Tuesday, 21 May. I have now on 22 May received a proof of payment dated for 31 May.
