The City of Johannesburg Municipality has one of the worst client services in the country. There are very few people at present who do not have a problem with them be it electricity issues, billing, incorrect statements, etc. I have been unfortunate enough to have a problem of some sort at any given time for the last 10 years. Before I can manage to go through the pain of resolving one issue, another one pops up. Unlike other terrible service delivery companies such as Telkom, no one can replace City Power as there are no alternatives.
My current problem has been present for several months where the rates and taxes on the previous owner's account were overstated. When this was queried and deemed to be resolved early this year, it corrected the old account but all the officials did was to move the overstated values to the new owner's account. I've queried this several time and eventually logged it in person in the Sandton office where I spent over an hour educating the official on basic mathematics in order to convince him that there is in fact an issue. Since that day (8th of July) I've been following up to no avail and when I connect to the call centre, they blatantly hang up?
