Took my car for it's first service to Mini Lyndhurst on Wednesday. During the course of the day received a call that the windscreen had 2 chips that needed repairs. I enquired about whether the cosmetic mini insurance that we had should automatically cover the repairs to the chips. I was told that I should pay for this cash and will be able to claim afterwards. After collecting the car the next day and paying for the repairs to windscreen, I called the MINI Care insurance and was told that I cannot claim as I did not get the repairs pre-approved. This was their final answer to me. I have since emailed the manager of mini and service manager, but have received no response or phone call from the service manager. I feel ripped-off. The claim is under R300 and should be covered by the insurance.

I should have been informed by the service representative who called me - to call the mini insurance first to get pre-approval before giving them the go-ahead on the repairs. I was not given the Cosmetic Care Policy to know the rules either. So being properly informed by the service dept was important.

I expect better service from MINI especially since their pre-sales service was so good.
