It's your fault, read the instructions

Opened a can of Pakco Gold Dish lentils and found a black blob of 'lentils'. Forwarded a photo to the company. Received a call explaining that I should have heated the can [seriously] before opening to avoid 'glucose separation'. I had never heard such nonsense before and told them so. In return I received a photo of a can It
reads "HEAT AND ENJOY"
Since I had not followed the 'instructions' they were not responsible. I've been cooking for over fifty years and had never understood that cans must be heated before opening!!
I forwarded the photos and emails to their Sales Director and have been ignored.
