I signed a 12 month lease with Rent a Store. I gave notice that i would be vacating my store by the 1 November 2013. I did move 99% items except failed to removing my lock. I received a call from the Sales department, stating I owe them R1600 and when will i be making payment. I was not given any explanation as why it was much more etc. When I asked why, she said that i had not vacated and i was being charged fees for false notification, and not making payment. I asked how was i supposed to know that i needed to make payment if nobody had informed me of the payment due. Her response was they tried calling me on the 1st. No message was left. No calls since. She also mentioned they have 3000 customers! After all of this i have to i was upset but since i was partly to blame said that i would make payment and would have any remaining items out prior to the 1st of December. The sales person then goes on to say I will still be charged rental for December? Now in my opinion this is unethical because I will not be using the storage unit, I have paid up to the end of November and this is purely a money making initiative. This has soured a once good customer experience
